Excellent Coffee Maker

Excellent Coffee Maker
Love it, love it, love it. This is an awesome product, and I like the fact that you can brew a cup of coffee in 20 to 30 seconds. Also that you get the exact amount of coffee you asked for every time. Having the carafe is cool too. My only regret is that I wish I got the bigger model for more water reservoir. Thanks, Keurig, for the free pods for this review. :-)

I have been using this machine for quite a while now and I still love it! My coffee has a much better flavor brewing like this. It takes a bit of adjusting to know what brew to use for each cup size, but I finally have that down. Right now my only real complaint is the lid on the water reservoir is a pain to deal with and hooking the reservoir back on when it is full is difficult. I have since decided to just take a pitcher of water to pour into the reservoir to fill. That is much better! I found a company that is much less expensive than Keurig official K cups. The pods are organic and biodegradable, unlike many k cup manufacturers who use only plastic. These are much more eco friendly and easier on the wallet. It is San Francisco Bay Coffee Company. I was bothered by knowing I was constantly dumping plastic in the landfill. Another option I found is reusable K cup filters to use my favorite ground coffee in the Keurig. Don't bind yourself to the expensive K cups. You can enjoy the benefits of the Keurig without going in debt. I have been making sure to do maintenance as the machine suggests. I change the filters regularly and descale when it says it is time. If you want your machine, or any other equipment you own, to last, you have to do regular, on time upkeep, just like changing oil in your car. It will last longer if you do.

I read reviews of complaints about the Keurig function, or lack thereof. I am sure most of that is from people who just pop in the kcup, brew and go (repeat). These are probably the same people who put gas in their cars and run them in the ground. Without proper maintenance nothing lasts. Be sure to do all maintenance the machine asks. So when it is time to run the scale buildup remover, and it will tell you, do it. I also make sure I use the needle cleaner so the coffee brews quickly. If coffee grounds begin to clog the needle, it will slow down the brew drastically, that's when you know you need to do the maintenance. It is easy and quick and makes a world of difference. Doing these maintenances will extend the life of your brewer and make your coffee better.

    Love this brewer.

It does have the restriction over the cups needing to be compatible with Keurig 2.0. Every single brand of K-Cup that I use, is K-Cup compatible. Every box I've gotten from the grocery store, as long as they say "Keurig Brewed" are compatible. Idk why people on here are so up in arms about. If you dont like Keurig trying to protect their product that everyone and their mother is trying to copy, then get the K45, it works exactly the same. I guess some people don't do research before they purchase their products.

Anyway, onto an actual review by someone who isn't mad that it doesn't do what it SAYS it doesn't do...

This brewer arrived in perfect order. The carafe thing is amazing, and so are the Carafe K-Cups that it comes with. Came with several standard K-Cups as well. Provides hot water dispensing (which it asks you if it senses that there is no cup in the loader), and coffee dispensing for 4oz, 6oz, 8oz, and 10oz, which I'm really happy about since I have like every sized mug there is. Comes with the optional water filter accessory and filter included in the box in the event that the water where you live makes your coffee taste weird (like here in DC); this will make your water taste perfectly normal. I do wish the hot water dispenser worked for the carafe, but getting that work is as easy as just turning the pot side ways and hitting go (it can detect if the carafe is under the dispenser).

Other than that, it holds 60z of water, works great, right out of the box, and I'm extremely happy with it. Eventually once all the brands become 2.0 compatible (even tho all the major ones ARE), people will stop griping so much. I can't believe people would buy this and get mad, even tho it says that it only uses Keurig 2.0 cups. If you need to find out what cups are compatible or not, they have all of them listed on their website; and there is a ton.

I'm not a morning person, having to make a pot of coffee in the morning is a monumental task. The Keurig is great because I can slap in a coffee pod, press a button, and have coffee... No fiddling around with water, filters, coffee, measuring, etc...

However, you would have thought that Keurig would work on improving features of their product instead of merely trying to prevent people from using 3rd party k-cups... My typical coffee mugs hold anywhere from 16-20oz of coffee... The largest size you can brew at once is 10oz... So every morning I have to go through a brew cycle, open & close lid, and go through another brew cycle... Just like on the old model keurigs...

At first the coffee didn't see hot enough, but I always turned the Keurig off when I wasn't using it. I discovered when turning it on, even after it says it's ready to use, wait a minute or two more and you will have a hotter cup of coffee. I can only assume the water is still absorbing the heat from the element inside.

Other than that I've really had no issues. I have had a couple k-cups that were over-filled or something wrong with them where they wouldn't let coffee flow through, but that is not Keurig's fault. I like how easy it is to remove the pod area to clean it.

If Keurig really wants to make a better product they will ditch the DRM with the K-Cups, allow a user-adjustable water temperature setting, and also allow a user to select a coffee cup size up to 20oz (or more) in their usual 4oz increments... The tiny coffee cup sizes are pointless, who drinks 2oz of coffee???
