This is a blend of espresso with a higher percentage of robusta beans than arabica yielding a stronger taste and more caffeine. If you like the stronger taste of southern Italian espresso, you will like this coffee. I have been drinking Lucaffe coffees for a long time now and this is one of my favorites. I presume that robusta beans are cheaper because this is the least expensive variety of Lucaffe. I use a Breville Cafe Roma and I notice that some pods work better than others on this machine. I seem to get the best results with Lucaffe pods. This may not be the absolute best way to brew espresso, but it’s a heck of a lot better than the local “barista” chain.

Excellent full flavored Sumatra coffee. Does not disappoint. There will always be Sumatra coffee in our house. Good choice if you like full flavored coffee.

Good, but not what I was expecting., February 13, 2013

I was happy with almost everything about this coffee – the packaging, the quick delivery, and the whole beans, of course. The only problem was that I overlooked the fact that this was not a BOLD roast, which is what I’m used to. The error was on my part for not verifying this before ordering. At the time I ordered, it was not clearly obvious.
If you prefer a medium roasted bean, this might be perfect for you. It was still good coffee, but just not as strong as I like.
